40/4 Stack Chairs by David Rowland
An elegant alternative to the folding chair, 40/4 was so named because it allowed chairs to be stacked four feet high. In 1964, a year after it went on the market, the 40/4 was awarded the grand prize at the prestigious Milan Triennale, the first of many design awards it has received. It is also in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art and several other major museums.
